Consistently reliable supplies

I've ordered glazes and trimming tools from Core Clay a few times now. They're my go-to for supplies. This last order included some new ceramic brushes. Everything always arrives well-packaged and exactly as described. The quality of their tools and materials is consistently good. I appreciate that I don't have to worry about what I'm getting; it's always reliable. Their stock seems pretty consistent too, which is helpful when you're looking for specific items.

Decent value for a beginner

I bought a pottery tool kit and some stoneware clay for a beginner class elsewhere. I looked around a few places, and the prices here were pretty competitive, especially since I caught a small sale. The kit had all the basics, and the clay was good quality. Shipping took about 4 days to get to me, which was fine. Overall, I felt like I got a good deal for what I paid.

Good class, minor website issue

I signed up for the 8-week wheel throwing course. The instructor was really knowledgeable, and the studio had good equipment. I learned a lot. My only complaint was trying to register; the website was a bit clunky on my phone, kept refreshing the page. But once I got through, everything else was smooth. The kiln firing services were quick too.

I might move soon, what's the cancellation policy like for an 8-week course if something comes up?

A Andrew Davis 6 days ago
You'd probably have to check their official policy, but I remember it being fairly standard. Usually, full refund if you cancel early enough, then maybe a credit or partial if it's closer to the start date.

M Michelle Brown 4 days ago
Yeah, I think if you cancel pretty far in advance you get your money back. But if it's last minute, it might be harder to get a full refund, might be better to try and transfer to another date or person.

Any chance they do Black Friday sales on clay or glazes? I need to stock up.

J Jeff Johnson 3 days ago
They totally do! I remember getting a pretty sweet deal on some stoneware clay last Black Friday. Keep an eye out in November.

L Lisa Flores 1 day ago
Yeah, they usually have supply sales around the holidays, so Black Friday would definitely be one of those times. Usually 10-20% off.

Do I have to buy a whole new tool kit or are some provided for classes?

J Jeff H. 1 week ago
They usually have basic tools for you to use in class, especially for beginners. You can buy your own if you want though.

P Patricia Brown 5 days ago
Most classes include the use of common tools. If you get really into it, then you might want to invest in your own set, but it's not required to start.

Can I use a gift card for a class registration? Or is it just for supplies?

A Adam D. 2 weeks ago
Pretty sure you can use it for anything they offer. I used one for a workshop last spring.

I think gift cards work for classes and supplies. My friend used hers for a membership renewal, so it's pretty flexible.

Thinking about signing up for an 8-week course, but I'm totally new to this. Is it okay for someone who's never touched clay before?

L Laura Moore 1 week ago
Yeah, totally! I did the beginner wheel throwing class last year and literally knew nothing. They start you from scratch.

B Betty Rodriguez 1 week ago
For sure. I saw people in my class who were absolute beginners and they were throwing decent pots by the end. The instructors are super patient.

Are there any deals for new students? I saw something about a new student bundle but can't find it on the site.

R Ryan Gomez 1 month ago
They usually have a small discount for first-timers on certain classes. It should show up automatically when you register, I think.

Yeah, I got like $10 or $15 off my first 8-week class. It was just applied at checkout, no special code needed for that one.

What kind of clay can you buy there? Just basic stuff or do they have porcelain too?

M Mary Nguyen 6 days ago
They have a pretty good selection. I've bought stoneware and terracotta from them. I'm pretty sure I've seen porcelain there too.
6
L Leah Wright 3 days ago
Yeah, they carry stoneware, porcelain, and terracotta. Plus different kinds for handbuilding vs. wheel throwing. Good variety.

Hey, I'm trying to decide between Core Clay and Queen City Clay for an intro class. Anyone got thoughts on one vs the other?

E Emma R. 1 week ago
I've only been to Core Clay, but I really liked the vibe there. It felt super community focused and welcoming.

L Linda Nguyen 1 week ago
Queen City Clay is good too, but I think Core Clay has a bit more variety in their class offerings. Plus, their studio space is really nice.
